Dares to ask the question: “What if one of those late era forever delayed legacy albums was actually really good?”

Early on my thought process was that I was really enjoying it, but if it was gonna keep doing the big atmospheric instrumental intros, I was gonna end up bored. It kept doing those. I did not get bored in the slightest.

    Jeff Parker 的专辑《The New Breed》于2016年6月24日由International Anthem Recording Company发行。

The best yet from long-time internet pal Kevin Fanning’s latest musical project. This is ambient music that seeks to “explore the idea of haunted HVAC” and “a vibe I kept calling ‘tuned municipal building.’”

Lovely fuzzy repeating guitar figures and washed-out synth pads, all creeping and/or drifting and/or humming, just enough textural and melodic tension to work as well during the day as it does at night. My favorite track is ‘intuition module,’ with a chord progression that sounds somehow both hopeful and foreboding. The closing track is beautiful as well.

You can certainly hear the likes of Grouper, Cliffdiver (the Austin ambient musician, not the punk band), Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, or Basinski in this, but think this… More

    专辑共收录八首曲目,包括《Just One of Those Things》、《Night and Day》、《I’m a Fool to Want You》等。

More

What a brilliant little spaced out album this is. Expect bells, country-ish out-there guitar, taped bits of spoken word from another galaxy, kids garbles...

Imagine William Burroughs hanging out with Sly Stone on ketamine. This is everything Primal Scream wanted to be on Give Out But Don't Give Up, sans beats and any kind of sellable rhythms. Expect very few vocals. This is some experimental good shit. Feels more country than country, in a way.

Still my favorite covers LP ever, and a perfect application of Aphex Twin's energy. I had always hoped that he would naturally have migrated into orchestral compositions on his own by now (in a Trent Reznor kind of way)

He seemed so from-the-future that I'd hoped he was actually traveling backwards through time through music, and by the time I retired he'd be making tribal music with drums and woodwinds

In my twilight years, I'd be listening to his final album, where it was just rocks rhythmically banging into each other

More

New Wave of British Metal.

More

they have girl talk on here?

revisting this record - its kind of insane how this album has the flow of the most coked up DJ in 2010... the way the songs just flow in and out of each other feel like im listening to a direct to recording jam/mix someone made for them and their friends to go pack a bowl and play some halo to... good vibes

This is an unexpectedly good soundtrack. Don't get me wrong, I really dig Colin Stetson's music, but I think he's been a bit hit-and-miss in soundtracks before. This album is, in my opinion, pretty good throughout.

Any composer who uses plucky violin strings without sounding like a farcical reality-show-cum-Hannah-Barbera series is a winner in my eyes.

The flutes and horns reminded me a bit of Michael Nyman's work; I need to listen to McQueen right now.

Sooo much potential here as Ireland’s new darlings, even earning a Grian Chatten feature as Fontaines reaches superstardom. I’m not sure if some songs just fall flat or the album never truly gets going because of the frequent interludes, but definitely keeping a close eye on future releases.

I get what they're trying to do with this record and I feel like it doesn't land like they hoped. The Sean Paul cover is fun, but nothing that fantastic, which is too bad because the singles for this record were so great.

Another solid release from Freddie. This record seemed to be just for fun, with him returning to older form and giving us just raps, very few choruses. The beats are crisp and his pen game is still as strong as ever, even if none of the tracks absolutely blow you away like on his collaborative releases with Alchemist and Madlib.

building on the "hyperpop" trends of the last couple years and incorporating elements such as trip hop, dream pop, and bedroom pop, neggy gemmy paints a picture of euphoric party dance floors and nostalgic night time drives.

also has a very tasteful frost children feature
