This album completely whips ass. Pipin hot crunch riff supreme from some of the best in the game right now. My only complaint is the jazzy and proggy bits seem to bleed over and blur the line with the Dream Unending project, which completely whips ass in its own way, but I guess I just like the separation of the two so I opted to be a dick about it.
This was my 2023 AOTY. I don't think you can make a record as perfect as this one. The fact that they did a hard pivot into prog death and executed it this well is insane. I had the fortune of being able to see them twice in the last year and it fully cemented that this is a truly special record that I think will go down as one of the best ever in all death metal.
all killer no filler, death metal ferocity, not bringing anything new to the table, but when you're doing the fundamentals better than your some of your elders ever did, that's fine.
