one of the best metal albums in recent memory. finally someone actually looking to try something truly new within a genre that has been largely stagnant for decades.
baile funk is starting to become my mood for 2024, the samples on this thing are fucking bonkers and i can't help but dance in my chair while i'm listening.
bury me at makeout creek will always have a special spot in my heart, but WOW this album blows your socks off from beginning to end, great hooks, melodies, lyrics, the whole package, easy 10/10.
needs no introduction, brian eno is a legend. amazing ambient musings, background music for any occassion. especially wallowing in your own depression which is perfect for me.
aoty 2021. the final release under the lingua ignota name, and what a way to end a project. absolutely devastating songwriting, shakes me to my core. love it.
an absolute behemoth of an album at nearly 2 hours, effortlessly jumps between the improv chaos to some of the grooviest jazz you've ever heard, essential album from 2023.
on this album ty segall gives us the best of both worlds when it comes to his songwriting, the ferocity and fuzz of the guitar playing on straight garage rock songs, and some great acoustic pop jams. could end up being my new favourite release, we'll see.
julia holter's pivot from straight baroque pop to this experimental, transcendental pop she's doing on this album has to be one of the greatest artistic evolutions in recent memory.
vividly remember hearing 'public strain' by women in high school, forever altering my music taste. this is the only album for me that comes close to competing with kali malone's 'all life long' for aoty. just earworms front to back on this one. hope to see an lp pressing in the future.
it's alice coltrane, pharoah sanders and joe henderson on the same record what do you want me to say? ofc it's great. shut up and go listen. then go listen to journey in satchidananda.
needed a few listens before i could really formulate an opinion, but for me it's easy to say that vampire weekend are back and better than ever. this is very much in the vein of contra + mvotc, my two favourite releases from them.
