i think everyone can relate to the fear of mediocrity when a favourite band of theirs releases their first album in x amount of years, but this is insane, it's like they never stopped. wow.

after hearing it performed live in a church i am 110% certain this is one of the top 10 albums of the decade already.

this belongs on any best albums of all time list.

five stars for 'dance yrself clean' alone.

it's starting to feel like radiohead will never put out another album, or that we will have to wait many more years for that. taking the smile's output into account, i can live with that.

everything they do on here, they do so well. can't remember the last time a year was so full of great and exciting metal releases. happy to be having fun listening to metal again.

so beyond any of the black midi albums, 'the magician' is just... wow

beautiful ambient/drone album in a similar vein to her fellow stockholmer (stockholmite?) kali alone. title track is very basinski-esque (at least dlp) in how it starts very soft and evolves into this suffocating drone. cannot recommend enough.

pimp c steals the show on big pimpin' so hard that it's the highlight of the entire album and it's not even close.

the sophomore slump is going to hit different when they eventually decide to put out more music.

liking this as an angsty teen, and then returning to it as an adult years later and realising it was even better than i remembered it being is what keeps me alive.

insanely strong debut, a lot of my favourite outkast tracks are on this album. especially player's ball

one of my all time favourite songwriters, i really want to like this more than i do, but something about this just isn't hitting right with me all the way. score might change for the better, hopefully not for the worst.

edit: most of the songs do better in a live setting. still not crazy about 'long dark night'
