The other day I listened to a song from her debut album and just realised how much she has improved as a singer. I feel this album's not as strong as the previous two but it has a song about her Stardew Valley's girlfriend so I don't really care about anything else. Also, "Driver" is one of her best songs to date.
I just love listening to Soccer Mommy sing. The quality of the vocals reach into my soul and make me feel, despite the fact that (as is usually the case with me) the lyrics themselves pass me by. I just want to sit in the wash of words and let the emotion sink into me.
This album really gets going with Driver, turns into a beautiful haze in Some Sunny Day and Changes, and just keeps giving thereafter. Big fan. Her debut album Clean will always be a high bar to reach again, but this is still a brilliant record and one that I shall be returning to often.
This is what Taylor Swift wishes she was. While this doesn't match the magic of her studio debut record, tracks like "Anchor" and "Driver" show some artistic growth while still giving us some signature folk/singer-songwriter hits like "M", "Thinking Of You", and "Evergreen". It's been great to watch her grow, even if this doesn’t have the longevity of past releases.
I was almost tempted to give it half a star more because it's a rainy day, and this kind of music flows right in like water. However, it's also true that on a second listen, it fades away just as quickly
