  • deeper well feels like the shadow of golden hour but still manages to shimmer. golden hour set an impossible standard with its warmth and blissful melodies, and deeper well just doesn’t have that same magic.

her voice always feels like a hug you didn’t know you needed. some of the tracks—especially when you hear them live (see this tour!!) —hit way harder than you’d expect. it’s like she’s sitting right next to you, giving you a soft smile, reminding you it’ll all work out. not every song is a standout, but the album’s heart and vulnerability still shine through.

  • I think this album is a lyrical tour de force. I just love how Kacey Musgraves talks about heartache, self-discovery and resilience without it ever feeling preachy or cheesy. I mean, this line right here: "Sailor Moon's got nothing on me", it's pure pop perfection.

  • Still chasing the high of Golden Hour, I have to tip my hat to her ability to come up with some raw emotional content that fits in well with her last few records, but provides something refreshing. However, this record falls short from time to time with songs that don't do her musicianship enough justice. I know she's capable of more, but this record is still a nice easy listen and I was generally impressed with the content.
