by venturing
first off, let it be known that like with all jane remover side projects, the version of this on streaming is unauthorized and you can find the real version and the rest of venturing's stuff on soundcloud. anyway the review:
if you're going to insist on continuing to tediously retread the 90s, this is how to do it: pretend you're uploading the archived recordings of your obscure south dakota indie band that you were in 30 years ago. i say this as The Oldest Zoomer: it is adorable to watch soundcloud comment zoomers pretend they remember this band. the charade is so inept it's precious. venturing has the elements of 90s rock, but assembled all wrong; absolutely nothing sounded like this in the 90s, this mix is 100% the work of a terminally online former hyperpop producer in 2023 and not a recording engineer in the 90s.
and it's so cute how the commenters don't realize that radio in the 90s was highly regionalized, and that a band like this from south dakota would probably only get played on college radio in the midwest, and even then maybe only in the dakotas and minnesota or something.
maybe that's why i like it. maybe i like it because i know jane remover is capable of making music that isn't just worshiping at the altar of borrowed nostalgia for the unremembered 90s. maybe it's just that jane is a good songwriter.
