I love the sound of this band, so I'm still a sucker for it. But it all feels a bit too perfectly calculated now. Nothing as brilliant as Heat Waves on this.
Find this irresistible even though I didn't completely love it first time through. Love the tone, the variation, the counter-melodies, and the fuzz. Chemical is a song of the year contender.
Unfortunately one of those bands that I think will possibly never connect as well as they did the first time. The debut remains a clear favourite. Maybe a matter of timing.
Genuinely very very enjoyable, even if it's hard to overlook her family. Inventive and glitchy, unpredictable. Wouldn't have suspected enjoying this, but begrudgingly I really do.
First time I've really got into her after several attempts. Jazz and Middle Eastern vibes, more than I remember from previous albums. Great as background, but also a slightly challenging album if you want to zone in on it.
Right Back to It is beautiful. The rest of the album is super consistent, and I do love her, but this doesn't evoke the same feelings as Saint Cloud. That was such a moment in time and this feels like less of an impact overall.
Like a couple of other bands that have stayed the course for a while, maybe unfairly ignored because they're consistently so damn good. I like it a lot, but almost overlooked it entirely.
Fuck that opener is stunning. Rest of the album is decent too. Good pop song-writing drenched in slightly unexpected production choices. Feels classic and contemporary somehow.
