Once I heard the track 5am Walz I was hooked with this album. The track so strongly reminds of Boards of Canada, that I could have sweared it was a slowed down sample of an existing BoC track. (Chromakey Dreamcoat from The Campfire Headphase might come closest). But enough about that.
The Album is amazing and has haunted us since its release. Too funky for Dream Pop, too honest and sincere for Chill Wave or Yacht Rock, even though tracks might fit right in-between such stylistic mixes. Just give it a try and fall in love!

I just decided, that I will pick up the vinyl of the 2014 debut instead. After being underwhelmed, even after several runs and Dolby Atmos, I went back to listen to the self titled debut and I am in absolute bliss! ✨

Nothing wrong with this release, perfect music to work to, but it is laking the northern magic of the album mentioned above.

Great to see a new release by Music from Memory and it even being a new EP by the ambient supergroup Gaussian Curve, containing Italian ambient pioneer Gigi Masin, Amsterdam balearic DJ and producer Young Marco and Music As Truth co-founder Jonny Nash.

The EP does not disappoint with the typical MfM signature sound and expectations from previous albums by the same act. Fever Dream surprises with Gigi Masin’s singing after about 4 minutes of gentle interlocking arpeggios, 303 bass and balearic guitar melodies.

This record is pushing all my buttons. 80s synth waves and catchy but not intrusive melodies and vocals. This has been spinning for the last weeks and will probably do for the rest of the year. It’s like Bullion made stock out of his Pop Not Slop playlist!

PS: The Dolby Atmos version on TiDAL sounds amazing!

What starts exciting with some new, more reduced and electric sounds, becomes more of the same. 100% Cornelius and nothing wrong with it. I’ll probably have to order another overpriced CD from Japan to add to my collection.

Ending with a Ryuichi Sakamoto cover version that is clearly a tribute but does not really add to the song, like he was able to cornelisize other popsongs before.
