The Neubauten have been at this for over 40 years at this point, so it's unsurprising that Rampen lacks much of the iconoclastic intensity of the band's early output. It's a superior offering to 2020's Alles in Allem, both in terms of breadth of sound and lyrical content, but it feels very similar to The Jewels in composition.
The songs on Rampen are pretty short, around pop single length with a few exceptions, which is unusual for the group, but not unexpected.
Rampen is a solid offering from the Berliners, who continue to explore in their later years, but perhaps in more subtle ways than in their youth.
