When I was a kid, I think 12 or 13, I was obsessed with this brand of American crust punk. I still am now, but there's something about the devotion you feel when you first discover something as a kid that makes it even more potent.

Anyway, in tribute to the style of the time, I ordered a Nausea "Smash Racism" back-patch off the internet and sewed it onto a pair of thrift store pants as a butt flap. This is not a great look for most people, myself included, but I think that expresses how big of an impact this band made on me. I wasn't willing to just wear a shirt or pin. Hell, I wasn't even smart enough to just turn the thing into a back patch. No, no, I had to hang it like a drapery from my ass so it could float in the wind and draw attention with every step.

Now, I just have a regular-old Nausea t-shirt, like a poser. But, even as a butt flat-less poser, I still think the fucked up mastering of the Profane Existence pressing is superior to this gussied-up Svart reissue.
